Last week, a police officer came to St. Francis to discuss his role in the community as well as the need for police officers in every community. The students were also able to ask questions to the detective in order to further their understanding of police officers.
Oral Predictions
In language, students learning to make predictions about stories while reading. This helps students to focus on the story and engage students in their reading. Classes practiced predicting stories and later shared them with the class.
In Math
Students have been working on partitioning numbers while adding and subtracting. This means breaking numbers in to smaller ones in order to make adding and subtracting easier. Next week, students will be working on multiplication.
Homework
Multiplication: Make Equal Groups. Students are learning how to make groups of numbers for multiplying. In the homework, the students must draw the multiplication problem under the equation as well as write the answer.
